Late stage customization in narrow web packaging printing
An option for the needs-based management of packaging processes in flexible mass production is late stage customization. This enables the individualisation of products integrated into the production phase as late as possible. Swiss company Hapa AG specialises in these types of solutions and offers tailored solutions for a range of packaging applications.
Digital printing drives changes in the label business –
Gallus Labelfire 340 for self-adhesive label production
The label market is one of the printing industry’s biggest growth segments. The dynamic growth in demand for digitally printed labels in particular continues unabated. Following the global market launch of the Gallus Labelfire digital label press the image of the hybrid label printing machines (a combination of digital and conventional printing) has changed significantly. Gallus Labelfire is a joint development by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) and Gallus based on inkjet technology from Fujifilm.
Digital printing to continue to take market share from offset presses
In 2017 digital printing will account for 16.2% of the global print market value and 2.9% of the volume. This is up from 2.1% in 2012, and the transition will accelerate to 3.9% by 2022 according to the latest research from Smithers Pira.
